I used to buy store bought Teriyaki sauce which was always ridiculously sweet. This recipe finds a nice balance between sweet, sour and salty. This is by far the best that I have come across, courtesy of Daring Gourmet. Quick, easy and way better than anything in the shop. This can be used as a marinade, glaze or in stir fry. Below I've used it on BBQ chicken. Store any leftovers in the fridge for up to a week.

Ingredients
Soy Sauce (½ cup)
Brown Sugar (¼ cup)
Minced Ginger (2Tb)
Garlic clove (1 clove finely sliced)
Honey (1Tb)
Sesame Oil (1tsp)
Mirin (3Tb)
Water (¼ cup)
Cornstarch (3tsp)
Preparation
Mix water and Cornstarch in a cup and leave aside.
Mix all other ingredients into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce to a low heat and add the cornstarch mixture.
Simmer for 5 minutes until it thickens.
Reduce heat and cool.
