Delicious Teriyaki Sauce: Say goodbye to bottles.

I used to buy store bought Teriyaki sauce which was always ridiculously sweet. This recipe finds a nice balance between sweet, sour and salty. This is by far the best that I have come across, courtesy of Daring Gourmet. Quick, easy and way better than anything in the shop. This can be used as a marinade, glaze or in stir fry. Below I've used it on BBQ chicken. Store any leftovers in the fridge for up to a week.

Ingredients

  • Soy Sauce (½ cup)

  • Brown Sugar (¼ cup)

  • Minced Ginger (2Tb)

  • Garlic clove (1 clove finely sliced)

  • Honey (1Tb)

  • Sesame Oil (1tsp)

  • Mirin (3Tb)

  • Water (¼ cup)

  • Cornstarch (3tsp)

Preparation

  1. Mix water and Cornstarch in a cup and leave aside.

  2. Mix all other ingredients into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce to a low heat and add the cornstarch mixture.

  3. Simmer for 5 minutes until it thickens.

  4. Reduce heat and cool.
